South Facing Pool

On this page I will try to show you the importance of a South Facing Pool area!
(All of the pictures in each row were taken within 5 minutes of each other. It is important to look at
the area close to the house as that is usually the only place you can position the pool furniture)

South Facing	East Facing	West Facing	North Facing
The pictures in the row below were taken at 10:00am in the morning.

Notice the sunshine everywhere and the intensity of the shadows!	The Sun rises in the East so an Western exposure has nice morning sun.	At 10:00am the sun is just starting to hit the edge of the pool deck.	Very little sunshine at all. Even on a one story home. It is worse on a two story home.
The pictures in the row below were taken at 1:00pm in the afternoon.

Notice the sunshine everywhere and the intensity of the shadows!	As the sun tracks to the West you can see how you lose sunshine on the pool deck near the house.	The West facing home has nice sun on the pool in the afternoon.	Once again, very little sunshine at all on the North facing pool.
The pictures in the row below were taken at 5:00pm in the afternoon.

The sun is getting very low in the sky but you can still see shadows.	In complete shadow - no sun in the late afternoon.	Still have sunlight hitting the pool deck.	I took the picture f the wrong house but as you can see, still no sun.
Summary
Ideal pool location. You have Sunlight on entire pool deck all day!	You have sun in the morning and your pool chairs will be in sunlight until around Noon.	You start to get useable sun around Noon and it stays for the remainder of the day.	Unfortunately these North facing pools never get useable sun in the inter months.
